Money Magazine touts Iowa Beef
The March 2003 issue of Money magazine, that respected source of advice on managing your appetite as well as your investments, included a Des Moines establishment in an article on the best steak houses in the United States. Among the eight restuarants singled out for serving "plenty of loval flavor" was Iowa Beef Steak House at 1201 E. Euclid Ave.
The restaurant was called "an informal and nondescript place." The article also said Iowa Beef Steak House is "the best exemplar of an unusual Hawkeye State trope: Customers can cook their steaks themselves on a large charcoal grill."
